I'm glad to hear you received good service and value from Kel-tec. I'm also a happy Kel-tec owner, and have sent back all four of my Kel-tecs for the hard chrome upgrade (also nice, and a great value).
BUT, be a little cautious regarding the P40. I believe it has been discontinued due to frequent reliablilty problems. I've been very pleased with my P11 and P32s, but my P40 has never proven reliable, in spite of polishing, lubricating, trying a variety of ammo, etc. I'm planning to send it back to Kel-tec to see what they can do with it.
You'll often hear that the only problem with the P40s is "limp wristing" - but many people (myself included) who are able to shoot all kinds of handguns without a problem, apparently use improper technique and/or are too weak in the wrists to shoot the P40. As a handgun intended to close range self defense, I'm not comfortable with the idea that the gun will jam unless I use a very firm two-hand hold with it. And I get fail to feed problems even when I DO use a firm two handed hold (I'm 6'2", 240lbs, not especially weak). I still have hopes that Kel-tec will resolve the problem, and if I can't get it to work with the .40 barrel I may try a .357 Sig barrel (the bottle neck is supposed to help with the feeding problems). For what it's worth, my P40 frequently jams when feeding the first round from the magazine (insert magazine, hold grip firmly, pull slide all the way back, release, round jams on feed ramp). This got a little better after I polished the feed ramp, but it still is far from 100%. If you are looking at a P40, you might try to get the dealer to manually cycle a magazine or two of ammo through the pistol for you. If you load .40 S&W, you might consider loading a few rounds without powder or primers so the dealer will feel more comfortable cycling them through the action (or letting you do it). Good luck.
