More fun with the Remington!

Went out early today before it got too hot; hadn't shot in a month because of the crazy weather, field flooded, etc. 200 Yards, first two group were sub MOA!! Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308 w/20" barrel, off the hood of the Jeep. I don't know what else anyone could want. :) I was hoping to go out to 300 yards today to gauge my drop against Federal's chart for this round, but the fields are just too grown up to set up a safe shot. Bleh.. need to break out a mower.

Federal GM308M; 168gr Sierra Match Kings, factory loads. First group was slightly low and left, second group was perfect with the exception of that brain fart to the lower right. One of these days I'll lay down five shots in the center like I want. :D

Looks like that SPS Tactical is a shooter! I thought of buying one myself. Used to own the 26" 700VS and the 700P in .308. I'd like to try the 20" in the .308 sometime. I have a 20" 700LTR in .223 and its my best shooting rifle ever.

Yea, I'm slowly getting to the point where I'll be reloading. Buddy at work gave me a Lee turret press, and I've got a set of dies. Been keeping all of my brass as well. I'll be there eventually.

I recently bought a SPS Varmint .223 and it is also a sweet shooter. At 100 yards I was getting .3" groups; fairly often but not every time. The limit on this particular rife was the trigger; the x-mark pro, only goes down to 3 lbs.

I just, as in this weekend, installed a Jewell trigger set a 1 lbs. Talk about a difference! I am hoping to get it out later today; however, dry firing the reticle does not even waver one iota when the trigger breaks.

Nice shooting on your part! You've got the shooting part down, you are probably being limited by the stock trigger.
