law passed in June 2013, said the good folks of Illinois will still have to wait until January 2014 to get permits. now its backed up again, seemingly until March or April 2014. using the excuse of fingerprints to see who is eligible for permits seems to be the stand by reason.

I don't get it (well, I do, its Illinois) but you can buy a gun in less time, why does it take longer to get a paper "allowing" you to carry it?

I just scored my Alabama permit. Paid $25 for one year and I could have had one out to a max of 5 years if I wanted to pay $125. Walked in, got photographed, they ran a NICS check, half hour later I walked out with a permit.

No fingerprints needed.

Here's the kicker: if this is reviewed on a "strict scrutiny" basis as it should be, if the state CAN achieve their ends by a less intrusive means, they have to. What AL does proves they can.

For that matter, the no-permits-at-all success of Vermont, Alaska, Arizona and Wyoming have to be factored in...

Not too worry. They'll figure out another tactic by Jan. Permits probably won't be forth coming in the foreseeable future due to unexpected and insurmountable obstacles that just somehow keep popping up.
