Moonclips question

I'll soon be picking up my 625 and I need to buy some accesories. Are all moonclips created equal? Is one brand better than another? Same question on demooners? Is the California Comp Works brand any good?

For such a simple product, there is actually quite a bit of difference in quality.

For moon clips the very best I have found came from Tom at www.moonclips.com . The ones I've purchased from www.dillonprecision.com have worked just fine. but are not finished as clean as Tom's. The one's I've gotten from S&W are way too stiff. The "surplus" stuff at gun shows are too loose and have sharp edges (dull die?).

I use my California Competition De-mooner all the time. The screwdriver type, flat stamped, and even home made(out of conduent tubing) all work fine. They just aren't as fast.

Enjoy the N frame...

Also, the equipment for the 610 and 625 from Dillon's work well. i have both sets and tools.

Congrats on your 625, great gun. I've bought full- and half-moon clips from dillon and the demooning tool for the full-moon clips. The plastic tool broke on the first clip and the clip was bent to hell, sent the tool back, received a new one and it also broke and bent another clip. Through the tool in the trash and gave the clips away.
I kept all the half-moons and even bought more from S&W and they all seem to work fine and have yet to bend one. I can load and unload the clips by hand without using a cumbersome tool. I like the fact that I can top off after firing three rounds as long as those rounds are used from the same clip.

Demooner & Remooner

Gunaholic, I just bought a really clever moon clip loader designed by the same people who make the demooner. 6 rounds are dropped in & 2 at a time are pushed into the moon clip. I have a bunch of moon clips from Dillon & the demooner & they all seem to work great. BTW, that 625's accuracy will absolutely amaze you.

Moon clips by Ranch Products, and by Bill Wilson have worked well for me.

(I sure miss the old Pin Shooting days!)

Moon Clip Loader, Guy P Meredith

I bought it at "The Reloading Center" in North Hills, CA. It was $40.00. I've never seen it anywhere else. Yesterday, I loaded 300 rounds in 20 minutes without gloves & no bleeding thumbs. I think it's made by California Gun Works.
