Because of what a recent official government document states regarding the pending expansion of the 1997 "gun-free zones" prohibition law for Montgomery County, Maryland. Some quotes from this latest government document regarding Bill 2-01, Weapons - Gun Shows:
"Goals and Objectives:
To prohibit gun shows and similar transitory events in the County involving the sale and possession of firearms."
Depends on what the meaning of the words "transitory events" is (a meeting of hunters? a social gathering of gun owners?)!?! First Amendment issues involved, too?
If this bill passes, decent, normal gun owning citizens living, working and/or passing through areas of the county where children and/or the general public are, would subject to search, seizure, arrest plus the following:
"Penalties:
The maximum penalty for a Class A violation. The current maximum penalties, under Code Section 1-19, are $1000 and six months in jail for a criminal violation..."
If we do not stop this anti-gun hysteria here and now, this "gun-free zone" virus shall rapidly spread throughout the rest of the state!
On Thursday, around 6:30 p.m. in the eve of the 15th of February in the Year of our Lord 2001, a hardy group of American patriots will (peacefully ;-) "storm the Bastille" of anti-freedom socialism -- the Montgomery Kounty Kouncil Office building at 100 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, Maryland 20850. This rally for freedom may continue even after the scheduled gun ban hearing commences at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
Pro-freedom patriots are encouraged to call in now and sign up to testify before the Kounty Kouncil's "Public Safety Committee" that evening. If you are not a county resident, be sure to tell the staff member who takes your call that you are aware that a few of those organizations and individuals testifying in favor of the bill are NOT local residents either. If you are a county resident, politely demand that you be listed as a confirmed speaker testifying AGAINST the gun ban bill. Be sure to make follow-up phone calls later, in case they put you on some kind of waiting list instead of in a confirmed speaker's slot.
Whether you testify or not, please come on down and join us at 6:30 p.m. for what may very well be our last stand for FREEDOM here in the County of Montgomery. You can notify augustus@alzona.com, who is the NRA Grassroots organizer if you like.
Join us at 6:30 p.m. on the 15th. ALL patriots are welcome!
