Montana Rifle Company

Does anyone have experience with Montana Rifle Company rifles? I've been doing quite a bit of reading about them and their rifles and barrels look great. I particularly like that they offer a left hand action (my young son is left handed). I'd like to read what actual owners say about their rifles rather than what the company or "gun writers" have to say about them. Fit/ finish as well as accuracy is what I'm most interested in hearing about.

Winchester doesn't make a left handed action. I'm interested in hearing from Montana owners about their fit and accuracy, from what I heard the owner originally was in the custom barrel business and in 1991 started making his receiver based on Winchester. They definitely make their own receivers and barrels.

really? because this entry on their website seems to differ.

left handed M70 featherweight. there are also a number of others listed.

MRC first started making those action was sold as gunsmith project and they were pretty rough and heavy also nothing is stock missed promised dates those were on pre paid actions.

Remington purchased one part of that company

Only one reason to sell he needed money. I would only purchase if they had a rifle in stock that I could handle.

This is another company that one of the founders of MRC got into and later sold ran into money problem.

Winchester hasn't made a left hand M70 since before the move to South Carolina. I don't know where you found it listed on their website, but I just looked and it doesn't show any currently being produced. I've heard internet whispers of a lefthand M70 sometime after 2015.

The Montana action uses the same footprint as a M70, so they'll fit a M70 stock with a very minor mod for the bolt release. When I was looking for a SS M70 action for my .338-06 build I talked with my smith about using a Montana 99 action. He said there getting better, but he still has to do about as much work to true them up as a M70. I held out for the M70 and built my rifle for about $200 cheaper.

Though if you want a left hand M70 the Montana will probably serve you well. Finding a used LH M70 is pretty difficult these days.

Sigh...again...just looking for info on Montana Rifles, not Winchester.

People tell you what they know about the rifles and your disappointed? Yes the discussion went a little sideways, but it really didn't get off topic. Since you aren't finding the answers you wanted why didn't you do a simple "google search"?

The latest American Hunter (NRA) magazine had a very disappointed Montana rifles owner who write in about poor customer service. Just an FYI.
