Montana Gold

I've used 180gn HP's for 10mm Auto. They work great. Can handle full-power loads. And they're accurate, so it seemed to me at least.

The 124gr 9mm RN are excellent. Very consistent weight that shoot very well into the +p range if you want to go there.

My only complaint is that they rarely (if ever) go on sale and can be a bit pricey.

Very good product....and in case lots they are not expensive. They ship quickly - often same day you order and delivery to most of US is under 5 days... ..via USPS flat rate boxes ( prepaid ).

I shoot a lot of them...every year - About 5 cases a yr of 115gr FMJ in 9mm

About a case each of FMJ ... .in 40 s&w 180gr, .45acp 230gr, .357 mag 158gr, 240gr .44 mag

Shape of bullets are high quality / weight consistency is much better than plated bullets...

In my experience, Montana Gold had bad customer service. The case I ordered came apart in the mail. The Post Office swept up the bullets, put what they could recover in a different box and sent them to me along with what remained of the original packaging.

Montana Gold refused my request to either replace the lost portion of the shipment or to file a mail insurance claim.

When I attempted to file an insurance claim with the Post Office, Montana Gold did not produce proof of insurance despite my repeated requests via email.

I had to dispute a part of the purchase price with my credit card, which is the only time in my life that I've ever filed a charge dispute. My card issuer reimbursed me for the lost portion of the shipment. Montana Gold Bullets did not lift a finger to help and even had the audacity to email me a complaint about losing part of their revenue on this sale due to my credit card charge-back.

The bullets are OK for applications where great accuracy is not required, I used them in IDPA and IPSC with adequate results. Certainly not bullseye material in my guns.

In my experience, Montana Gold Bullets provided me with bad customer service after the sale and I would never place a repeat order with Montana Gold Bullets.

This summer when I decided to take the plunge back into reloading I bought a case a 9mm 124 gr FMJ's after doing the research.
So far I have been very happy and ended up buying another 2 cases [124 gr HP's].
If you compare the case price per round cost to a very popular plated bullet, they are almost exactly the same cost. I'll take the jacketed bullets given the choice.
I had a minor issue with one of my case shipments in that it only got scanned at the post office of origin and after 5 days there was no other scans or bullets on my porch so I called and left a message with MG. The owner called back within about an hour and said he would look into it but couldn't find out anything but had said he would ship out a replacement case if they didn't show up a full week after shipment which is what I wanted to hear. They did show up show fortunately for everybody a few days later.
So my customer experience was good with them.

Sorry to hear about the bad response to a broken shipment related above...that said, I've had great service from them, no broken shipping containers and all bullets were sealed in heavy duty bags, inside the cardboard shipping box.

Accuracy has always been good to near match quality and I've used them in 95 gr JHP .380 ACP, 115 gr FMJ 9mm, 125 gr JHP .357 Magnum, 155 gr JHP .40 S&W, and 230 gr FMJ .45 ACP. All were good and the .45's, in particular, will do less than 2" at 25 yds from one of my match tuned 1911's. Expansion has been about what I'd expect from standard production JHP's, not the advanced types now featured in premium defensive ammunition.

I buy in 2000 piece quantities so any mishandling in shipment would be obvious due to the weight involved. Just saying that my experience was far better than the poster with problems, and not disputing his unfortunate experience.

YMMV, Rod

They are a small company located in Kalispell, Montana ( in Flathead Valley- just north of Flathead Lake .....and about 40 miles south of Glacier National Park....in Northwestern Montana ..)....

If I have ever had questions - they have always been quick to respond and help. But I also respect the fact that they are a small company - and it may take a day or so for them to get back to me.

As I said in thread earlier, i order and ship ( and shoot) at least 8 cases a year....for the last 20 yrs or so -- of their bullets ....and while the US Postal Service has " mis-shaped" a few cases in transit, I find them incredibly well packed and durable for shipping - and while there have been some "gouges" in the outside carton packaging....the heavy interior carton has never been breached on any of my shipments.....

If anything, I think their packaging has gotten better in the last 10 yrs or so....

The only issue I have had was that I was sad to find out, last time I drove thru Kalispell, they had no retail store at factory....so I couldn't just go by and pick up a few cases / but there is a gun shop/ sporting goods store near the factory...so I placed an order for 5 cases...and will called it at the store the next day....
