not sure if this post is in correct place but
need some advice. Been shooting moly coated
lead swc in my SA I thought I was cleaning
it however after approx. 1000 rounds i have
a build up of moly/lead. what cleaning agent
to use. I have had suggested hydrogen peroxide and white vinegar, anyone heard of
this>?? help!!!

Use a patch wet with naptha, it takes moly right out. We use it in our cleaning to renew a barrel for DCM high power matches where we won't be using moly bullets.

If that doesnt take it out and the Moly has hardened then you'll have to firelap the barrel.
This was news to me when I learned of it from Gale McMillan - which is why he advocated abstinance from Moly.

bullet44 - I don't know what brand of moly coated bullet you are using, but I use Precision Bullets exclusively in my .40 cal IPSC gun without any problems at all. I often go more than 1000 rounds before cleaning and all that's required to clean the barrel is a couple of patches wet with any bore cleaner. If you want the ease of cleaning and economy using a moly coated bullet try Precision Bullets. The moly is in the form of a polymer and baked into the lead. Check them out at www.precisionbullets.com
