Molot Vepr 308 Super

Hey guys. I have fell in love with the Molot Vepr but are wondring about the availebilety for aftermarket parts
and accsessories for it. I would want to put a diffrent stock, a two peice synthetic stock,
on it and a 20rnd mag of some sort.

Do you know any internett sites with stuff for the Molot Vepr.
pleace help me.

My understanding is that Molot was forced to stop making these rifles as the result of a lawsuit.

As far as I know there have never been any mags for this gun higher than 10 round capacity.
 
I dont know if they make them anymore but they are sold here in Norway.
Closest thing to a AK you can get here in Norway.
Would it be hard to make a 20 rnd mag for the Vepr or make the Vepr to take 20 rnd, G3 or FAL mags?
what about the stock? Dont you guys have any input on the stock?
What about AK parts, do you think it would work with a AK stock of some sort?

I think its the same "AK" layout as the Saiga but are not shore about that.
I am hoping its easy to make them take G3 mags. Easy to get G3 mag here.

dosent anybody know anything about the Molot Vepr 308 Super?:eek:

I think your best bet may be to find a good TIG welder and machinist and modify the mags to work in the rifle.

I guess the Molots isnt that common in either the US or Norway.
Ther is close to no info on the nett either. Hmm?
Il just go for the old method of trial and error.:(:p

After seeing that pic, all I can say is that I want one! That's no doubt one of the most beautiful AK family rifles I've ever seen.
 
Yeah, it is realy nice.
This rifle, as you see on the pic, pluss Otis cleaning equitment, two mags, a sling and a gun case as a whole package, costs 5000$. If you were to buy it all separate, it would cost 5800$.

It is so nice but so are other guns. Ther is so many guns i want to get.:D
I am also drewling on the Accuracy International Artic Warfere Rifle. With scope and evrything i will have to pay betwen 11000 and 13000$ and costs about the same to shoot each year.:p
Its about priorety, right?:(

If/when:p i get one i am not shore if i will have the heart to change anything
on it. But we will see.

I would say try a Saiga Mag.
Both are AK's. Both use plastic mags.
Maybe, just maybe, the AK100 series was based off the Molot.

BTW, I'm with redneck...
+1 on its beauty. It is the best looking I have ever seen as well.
I have a wood blank to carve... I wonder if it is large enough for a Saiga/Molot?
 
Wow, that's pretty high...

When Robinson was selling the Super VEPRs in the U.S. they were going for around $1000 if I recall correctly. Of course that didn't include the bipod, adjustable cheekpiece or silencer.

My VEPR II in .308 was about $700 new. The accessories were extra. :D

The mag in the gun is a 5 rounder, the others hold 10 rounds. The red dot scope is a Kobra, the mounted scope is an 8X Russian made sniper scope with an illuminated reticle.

(There's a magazine under the barrel holding up the front of the gun, that's what the odd looking shape between the forearm and the front sight is.)

Nice rifle John. Guns are not cheep here. A standard/stock DPMS or Bushmaster AR-15, 20" will cost you about 2000$.
Sig-550 4000$,
Mini-14 1500$
DPMS-308 2600$
Glock-17 1000$
Glock-19 1200$
H&K USP Tactical 1800$

You get the picture. I dont know if this is that psycho prices but i think its pretty costly compered to the USA.

I'd say those qualify as "psycho prices", they're at least double what you'd pay in the U.S.

The VEPR rifles are AK pattern rifles built on a true RPK style receiver (both sides of the receiver are reinforced at the forward end). The Saiga rifles are built on a hybrid RPK style receiver (one side is reinforced).

I've owned one of each but never tried any parts interchangeability experiments. A good gunsmith should be able to fix anything on the rifle that's worth fixing--a receiver failure would probably do you in unless you really wanted to drop some cash. I've not heard of any breakage issues with the rifles though. As I understand it, the Saiga factory sued Molot over the VEPR and Molot was forced to quit manufacturing them. Parts are limited to what you can find on the open market. Some of the internal receiver parts appear to be interchangeable with any AK rifle, but I don't have any way to make a list.

Hi capacity magazines for either the Saiga or VEPR in the .308 rifles are going to be hard to find. I don't believe Molot ever made any and the highest capacities I've heard of for the Saiga were 8 round, IIRC. If 10 rounds isn't enough you'll have to do some sort of magazine conversion or modify the gun. Krebs custom will (or would at one time) modify the VEPR to take either Galil or M14 magazines. It's not an expensive modification. I've heard at least a few people suggest that the conversion to the M14 mags is something that's simple enough that it falls within the realm of a do-it-yourselfer.

I'm assuming that the Super VEPR is just a VEPR with a different stock and different top cover. If there are other internal differences then all bets are off.
 
I dont think i will be needing a 20 rnd mag but it is nice to have. The only reson i can think of would be hords of big-game vampire and ware-wolf varmints. yes they have come to Norway as well.:p

A 20 rnd mag would ruin the "arodynamic" :p of the rifle, also, while hunting here in Norway you are not alowed to have a mag that can take more than 2 rounds. This is becouse of "hunting ethics". you are not supose to engage multiple targests at the same time (moose family whipe out). One in the chamber and two in the mag.

M14 are not legal here in Norway so mags are few and far between.:(
You could get it legal here but it is sutch a time consuming and costly prosses so nobody havent bothered yet.

I think the Super Vepr is a "target" model with a fluted heavy barrel and integral compensator.

I've always been intrigued by these...
