I have a moisin nagant chambered in 7.62x54r. I took it to a gunsmith and he tried talking me out of it because it was unissued? I took it to him because of how tight the bolt was. He said it was just new. My question is that at the muzzle I can put the cartridge in past the neck of the case. Were their tolerances that bad or is my barrel worn out, and if so can I get it rechambered for something a little bigger? Thanks for any help.
 
The odds are, the crown of the rifling was damaged at one point in time and the end of the barrel was ''counter-bored'' to create a better crown.
