Mods for Sig 229

In the interests of making my 229 more controllable in one hand shooting, I was thinking of adding a Harrts Recoil Reducer and a Wolff extra power recoil spring. Any suggestions on how effective this would be? I'm mainly interested in taming muzzle flip as recoil isn't a problem, even with hot .40.

I really couldn't tell any difference with the Hartt's or without. I didn't try it with the Wolfe springs. Maybe the heavier spring does affect its performance.

So many pistols, so little money.

I have done side-by-side comparisons with P228s and think that the difference, even with the relatively light recoil, is noticeable.

I wouldn't increase the factory spring for off-range use. You introduce the possibility of unreliable functioning. For range only, go for it. I've tried this with a Beretta, and I think it induced last-round feeding problems.

Harts specified to use only the spring weight and spring supplied with the rod. This was 5 years ago so I don't know if thats changed. I have never used one on a Sig but have on Glocks and I could tell a difference.

I use a Sprinco recoil reducer in my Sig 229, and I do notice a small difference compared to shooting without it... The main benefit is that it seems to lengthen the recoil pulse a bit and to me that seems to aid controlability, plus the second spring helps to buffer the frame from being battered by the slide. I also like the feel of Hogue rubber grips on the Sig 229. With the Hogue grips, it makes holding the gun more securely easier... But the rubber grips can be a problem with concealed carry...
