modifying cast on Beretta 391 Urika

Hi all,

I just purchased a brand new Beretta 391 Urika Sporting. The primary reason why I got it was because I knew I could modify the drop and cast easily.

Well, come to find out, there really ISN'T any way to modify the cast in this thing! You can only use one shim spacer, and it's either DX (cast off) or SX (cast on). There is no way to change HOW MUCH cast off there is! It's set at 4mm. Am I missing something, or is this shim system a joke???

the shim system is what it is

not to be a smart ass, but a shim will give you so much on or off in terms of cast - and they base it on some "average" build asessment. But it doesn't mean a good gunsmith can't do something for you to really fit it to you.

To my knowledge, the amount of drop cannot be adjusted by the factory shims on any of the 391 models - but that's true on most semi-autos with the exception of the Benelli that uses a variety of shims, much like Beretta, and it has a little bit of adjustment on drop - at least in the sporting model. I think the new remington 1100 trap model may have some adjustments to it as well.

But as you've found - the shims don't give you an endless amount of adjustment - or incremental adjustment - which is too bad.
