Modern 38-55. What bullet are you shooting?

I shoot the Lyman 375248. 255gr flat point. Killed a pretty nice buck with it last year. I also have an old Winchester mold for a similar bullet. Both of them shoot about an inch at 50yds.

Barnes makes a 255gr? bullet in two diameters--I think 375 and 377. Have some but haven't tinkered with them yet. Dad's notes have it at about a 1.5" at 50yds.

Also have a load for a 220gr Hornady that shot inside an inch.

When I was loading jacketed bullets, I used the Barnes Original @ 0.377" diameter and 255 gr. I have gone away from the jacketed bullets now.

RL 7 and IMR 4198 gave good groups and I was looking for velocity around 1500 fps and there were no problems.

The remainder of those bullets are used in the 375 H&H.

IIRC, Barnes recommended an impact velocity of 1500 fps minimum for proper expansion in game.

I did not hunt with it back then, but I shoot a cast bullet for game now with a BHN 10 and gas checked.
