tsillik, Your Pistol is As Bill stated mid seventies, FI sold the Model D to IJ in 1978 (if I remember correctly) around serial number 40,000. IJ released the pistol as the Pony which then had an off and on production up to the early nineties.
Does your pistol have a long thin spring steel extractor or the conventional type ? How about the barrel, does it have the single locking lug or without and locking on the stepped area at the end of the breech? The second type of barrel has been incorrectly thought to be a blowback change but it actually locks on the forward edge of the ejection port. Another cost cutter by the bean counters.

The extractor is a little over an inch long, measuring on the outside of slide. There is a lug on top of back of barrel that locks into a lug in the slide, if this is what you were talking about. can't believe the condition of this pistol, has to have very few rounds through it.

I have several Model D pistols that are like new and several more that are still in the original box and extra nice condition both blue and chrome , and one that I got directly from FI that is chrome and fired very little but somehow through the ages the box has disappeared. There were enough of these pistols made that they are not exceptionally rare today, total production including IJ is just over 50,000. (Estimated by FI Serial numbers seen and IJ production using a number of prefixes estimated to be 10,000 +/-)
