My grandfather had a model 71 original in .348 Win ( i think that was the only cal they made them in). Anyhow my uncle has the gun now. He killed the biggest buck anybody in our family has w/ it in 1967. A 10 point PA whitetail.
I think the .348 is a superior cartridge to the .45-70. Assuming you reload, because they are tough to find factory.
Gives you better ballistics, than the venerable .45-70.
Both are capable of killing any North American Big Game at moderate ranges of 150-175 yards and under.
