Model 70 Trigger/Sear Question

I took a pre -64 Model 70 Winchester out of the safe a few minutes ago that had not been messed with in a few years. I had stored it firing pin assembly in the fired position to keep tension off the spring. When I operated the bolt the firing pin assembly would not stay cocked until I had operated the bolt several times, then it worked perfectly. Is it possible the sear/trigger was stuck in the fired position. I guess the main question is, is it dangerous?

Probably just some gunk around the sear that catches the striker. Take it out of the stock and spray some gunscrubber in it to remove any varnish that may have built up. BTW, I always store mine with the bolt open, not that that is necessarily right or wrong.
