Model 597

For 597 accessories: Other than stocks, barrels, extractors, hammers...etc... I'm fairly certain higher capacity magazines do not exist for the Remington 597.

I'll be interested to see if someone else knows differently... I have a friend with a 597 who'd love to have a couple larger magazines. A few attempts to search by me has turned up nothing.

SENT VIA EMAIL TODAY....................

Dear Valued Customers!

We are taking this opportunity to apologize for the continued release
delay of the much anticipated Remington Model 597 30 Round Magazine
22LR! This magazine has been and now is, in it's last stages of stress,
endurance and reliablity testing. As you can imagine, this type of
testing and final "tweeking" can have multiple set backs. With that in
mind, we would like to assure you as the final release draws near, that
you will be MORE THAN satisfied with this magazine as we are now! Again,
we would like to extend our apologies for any inconvenience these
delay's may have caused.

Best Regards and Safe Shooting,

BUMP!!!

I've just ordered one of these 30 round monsters for my 597... I'll let you guys know how it looks and how she works when it get's here and I get a chance to load it up...

Please do! :)

The friend I spoke of above happened to ask me this past Wednesday if I'd heard anything more on those mags.

Where did you purchase and how much $?

Thanks.

Well my thirty round magazine came today. I got the magazine shown earlier in this thread, at this website:

http://www.eagle-international-direc...products_id=68

It looks great! A nice smoked, clear plastic body, no rough edges on the seams. The spring seemed like a good tension, and the 30th round was fairly easy to put in, none of the strains like other high caps I've experienced as it even fit a 31st round in there!!

HOWEVER, BEFORE YOU ORDER YOURS: I had a catastrophic problem with mine. It WILL NOT CYCLE THE ROUNDS IN MY 597. The bullets don't angle up at all when loaded in the magazine, so when your bolt slides forward, it just pushes the bullet into the front part of the magazine. I ended up getting it to cycle after toying with it for a bit, but it would only cycle 2-3 rounds before the same problem came up. I ended up needing to unload the mag by hand, prying each round up slightly with a knife before pushing it out of the magazine.

I wanted to email the company, but Eagle International doesn't have an email shown on their site. I will be calling them on Monday and I'll let you all know what transpires.

This is definatly a Buyer Beware product, in my personal experience. If anyone else has had good luck with this please let them contradict me now.

That sounds like the same problem I had with the stock Remington plastic mags in mine. Later on Remington made newer metal mags which worked much better. In the end my 597 left such a bad taste in my mouth I sold the thing.

Same here and Remington's response soured me on ever buying another one.
