Model 48 Mauser sporter job, need advice.

I have searched around the net for advice, but can't seem to get this question answered, so I thought I'd try you guys.

I recently aquired one of the model 48A Yugo Mausers. I am really enjoying shooting this rifle, and am kicking around the idea of obtaining another one for the purpose of 'sporterizing' it. I have two questions:

Will model 98 (large ring) stocks also fit my model 48 without any smithing?

Does anyone have any experience with the long eye-relief scopes, perhaps in 4x? Would it be a good choice for my sporter Mauser?

Thank you in advance. Ajax

The Yugos have an intermediate-length action, so you probably would not be able to take, say a stock off a VZ24 and simply drop in the M48A action without some fitting.

Check out Midway - http://www.midwayusa.com - for a drop-in stock for your Mauser. You'll have to rasp in your own slot for the bolt.
