model 36, model 60 or model 37 ?

which is more desirable a model 36 blued, a model 60 SS or a model 37 air weight ? Consider all are in mint condition.

It depends

What kind of 36? The 60 is fixed sight, right? The 37 could be an odd variant itself

What vintage are they?

It could be any of the above at this point.

I like the M60 because of the stainless finish. Not only is it more resistant to rust, but the finish can always be restored with some metal polish.

I agree with Winchester 73, that's a little vague.
I don't have a Model 36, but I do have a Model 12,37,60,64,66,and 37.

So, desirable to me, would be the 36, as I don't have one.

But my nickel Model 37 is in my pocket more than any of them, because it's a airweight.

Well ....they're all J frames ...and probably round butt...although there were some square butt guns made too in those models.

.... a J frame - in general - is too small for me to shoot well - other than as a "belly gun" or say out to 15 Ft or so...( I'd much rather have a K frame
2 1/2" like a model 66 in my belt ) - in my hands its a way better gun out to 30 Feet or so - but assuming the J frame - Round butt fits your hands better than mine:

In general ...lighter ...may not be the best choice/ at least to me ...so I'd put the model 37 at the bottom of the three options.

Model 36 - is kind of a classic / and if I wanted a J frame - it would be on my list. I'd prefer a Nickel model ...probably a 3" wtih a Square Butt.

Mod 60's are just a stainless version of the mod 36 for the most part...with some subtle differences...depending on which engineering version you are looking at ....but I'd rather have the model 36 in Nickel than a mod 60 in stainless ( I'm old school ).

Collector value.

1 M36

2 M60

3 637

Well for one, he was asking about a model 37, airweight chief's special, not a 637, airweight chief's special in SS.

Also, this list is a wild guess. If the 36 was a no dash, blued 2in round butt, even unfired, is still one of the most common revolvers of all time. Don't forget that the model 60 was made in an adjustable sight version (scarce) and later in 357 magnum. If the model 37 was say a nickel 3in gun with a square butt, or something odd, it could easily be the most valuable. Also, early 36s had diamond grips with a flat latch, which brings a small premium.

We know nothing at this point other than the very basics IE what each model is. All 3 are common, and all 3 have not so common and desireable variations.

For what, and how much does each cost's?

The 37 would be better for carry, but my 37 (80s) has a square butt, but......

Open ended question gets an open ended answer.:(

I have and carry all three and they are really good carry guns, the M.37 air weigh is easiest to carry but the hardest recoiling and if you have a big hand (like me) the lest fun to shoot/practice with, the M.36 and M.60 are close enough to the same that the real question is do you like blued or stainless better. The stainless shows wear less than the blued but the blued revolver isn't going to stand out in the dark like the stainless.

It's really a personal choice. I love my Model 60, and I really love my Model 38. However, there's a lot to like in a Model 36 and in a Model 37. However, except for more felt recoil in the Airweight models, I bet that either of them would serve well.
