Model 10s back at Bud's

Haven't seen this posted yet, so figured I would post.

Bud's has those Aussie police trade-ins back in stock. They have square and round butt in the 4" models, and 3" square butt Model 10s.

I just snagged one of the 3" ones. :D

* I have no affiliation with Bud's. Just passing on some news that might interest folks.

Yup. I saw the 3", jumped over to the two 4"ers and by the time I clicked back to the 3" it was gooooooooone. Booo.

Do they get these back occasionally? I'll keep looking in if so. I'm on the hunt for a couple of 3 or 4 in. M10 or similar for fun and just-in-casing and sub $300 fits the bill nicely.

Good deal for $280 w/free ship. Must mean the gun is $250 at their shop? but how are these police trade ins? these were made in 1950's? what cops are using 6 shooters today lol?

My LGS had a model 10 for $180 snub nose, about 75% and the barrel was in good shape for what it was. I think they priced it wrong, but they said it was only $180 so dunno. Should have got that one.

On one of their last sales, I bought a Model 10-10 that was made in about 1988.

Hopefully someone will chime in, but these Australian police trade-in guns from the Victoria Police may have been police academy guns.

I bought a 10-8 (4", square butt, heavy barrel) last year from Bud's. It's a Victoria PD trade in (still had the VPD barcode sticker on it). I'd say it's definitely a service weapon, since it had a fair amount of holster wear on it. Mine was manufactured in 1982. I'm very happy with it.

I opted for the Model 64. Thanks for the heads up.

On edit, when I checked again today the 64s were all gone, so I would have missed out if not for your post. Thanks again.

Those 64's went fast (don't know how many they had), expected the 3" to go fast and they did. These guns are good deals and if you don't like it you can return it.

It's probably a good thing that I missed the Model 64's... it saved me having to hear my wife explain to me that I didn't need another gun. :o

+1 on missing the model 64. Has anyone got the 3inch model 10 in yet??? PICS, PICS, PICS. Mine should be in tomorrow.

05/03 It came in today. Much better shape then expected. Solid Model 10!

So, where are pictures, reports, etc.? I keep looking at 4" one on their site. I totally do not need it, I am 100% sure. But I want one. So I am ready to hear how they are rusty, scratched and have bad bores to help me rationalize why I should not buy one... C'mon guys, input please?!

Sorry. I forgot to update this thread. :o

My 3" is a 10-5 that has some honest wear to it, but is mechanically perfect. Mine has no rust freckles on it, and I'm glad. It is one heck of a shooter and has a great trigger. The stocks are just those aftermarket magnas with no medallion. I added a T-grip because I had one handy.

Anyway, this 10-5 added to my collection completed my 10-5 trio of 2", 3", and 4" barrels.

Here is a pic of the three with my new acquisition in the middle. Sorry for the low-quality pic. I haven't had time to take a "Glamour Shot" of my new gun just yet. :D

I want to add that this is the second 3" that I have bought from Bud's. I got one last year and it had a LOT of wear and rust freckles. The worst thing though, is that the barrel was crooked, and it would darn near shoot around corners. POI was almost off of the paper at 21 feet! Needless to say, it went bye-bye. I think it was one that the Aussies had used as a boomerang.

I also got a 4" RB model last year, and it, a Model 10-10 is one of my favorite guns. It came with a non-serrated trigger (which I love), and only had a little holster wear on it and no rust freckles. Mechanically, it's perfect, and the trigger pull is AWESOME. Only my Colt Python has a smoother DA trigger pull of the guns in my collection.

This gun is my HD weapon, and is the gun I use to teach first time shooters. It's just straightforward, non-intimidating (for new shooters), and is easy to shoot well. It is the only gun my wife is comfortable shooting, and it sits in one of those tiny quick access gun safes in case she needs to use it when I'm not around.

The grips it had when I got it were some old beat up magnas and I swapped some Uncle Mike's combat grips onto it because I had them handy.

I know I've posted this pic more than a few times, but here she is.

The listings for the used model 10s at Buds say "Not legal in California".

Why's that?

It has to do with CA's stealth gun ban, otherwise known as their "Drop Test".

The good-old Model 10 doesn't pass the test, so it is prohibited from sale in CA.

Yup, CA managed to find a way to (sort of) ban revolvers.

California "Drop Test" as in drop it on the hammer?

Are CA residents allowed to own one, just not purchase one new/used?
