"As the woman called 911, one of the suspects kicked in the front door."
One lucky, lucky woman.

Woman wields BB gun, chases away burglars
By the Tribune’s staff
A woman firing a BB pistol chased three burglars from her home after they kicked in the door to her apartment yesterday afternoon. The break-in occurred about 4:45 p.m. on Appletree Court in South Columbia.
The 19-year-old resident told police she did not answer a knock on the door as three teenage males stood outside her front door. She then saw them try to enter by opening an outside window. As the woman called 911, one of the suspects kicked in the front door.
Using a carbon dioxide-powered BB pistol, the woman fired at and struck one of the suspects. Then, police said, she chased them down the street until she lost sight of them at the end of the block.
"It’s not something I would recommend to everybody," patrol Sgt. Gary Voss said today. "What if the bad guy’s got a firearm?"
Witnesses told police the suspects were three white males, between 16 and 18. One slender suspect, about 5 feet 8 inches, wore a red baseball cap over short brown hair and a white T-shirt with Celtic-style script writing. He might have BB welts on his backside, police said. Another suspect, about 5-feet-7 and 150 pounds, wore a black T-shirt, dark pants and his brown
hair was cut in a mop-top. His cheekbone featured a large pimple. The third suspect had dirty-blond hair and wore a T-shirt.
