MN Drops AR, OH, OK and TN. . . MO Now Permitless Carry State

Missouri’s new law goes into effect 1/1/17 allowing permitless carry. Their new law doesn’t state you don’t need a permit but now states the Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm only applies to someone carrying a firearm into one of the places listed in state statute that is off limits by statute. Carry on posted private property is listed as a place off limits but that is the only place they have to ask you to leave first before a person carrying under permitless carry would be in violation of the law. The Minnesota BCA has released a new list of states Minnesota will Honor.

They have removed Arkansas, Ohio, Oklahoma and Tennessee. Minnesota will no longer honor those four states permits. They stated this in the email they sent out.

“After researching the laws of other states and communicating with their representatives, four states are no longer eligible for reciprocity because their state laws include age and training exemptions that are “NOT similar” to Minnesota laws that mandate a minimum age of 21 and require specific Permit to Carry training for all applicants. These states are: Arkansas, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.”

Edit: I should have stated in my post that Arkansas, Ohio, Oklahoma and Tennessee will continue to honor Minnesota. Those four states honor all other states permit/licenses.

This is one reason we need National Reciprocity, until such time, that being taxed and permitted is forced off the books.
In Tn 18yr olds that are Military, NG or Veteran can get a carry permit.
Minnesota is becoming even more Socialist it seems.
 
Minnesota just banished the citizens from four states from legally carrying concealed within Minnesota. First class citizens in Arkansas, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Tennessee are second class citizens in Minnesota. Some states will do anything to reduce the number of firearms within its borders.

Over time Minnesota might be able to disallow all the rest of the states, (including itself) from recognizing any legal right to concealed carry. :rolleyes:
 
Constitutional carry and self-defense law reform, (castle doctrine, no duty to retreat) have been introduced. The House speaker and other Republican House leaders are committed to passing these bills and other bills through the House. We are still working on the Senate, not sure if we will get the Governor to sign all of the bills or not. The Caucus leadership is asking everyone to write their representatives to make these bills a priority.

Other bills to be introduced in the next few weeks. Reciprocity is a priority for this year, we may go straight for allowing every other state's permits and stop doing this piecemeal every other year.

Governor Goofy will not sign the proposed legislation and there is no way there will be enough votes in both houses to override.

steve4102 -- can I ask why you believe this?

Looking at the bill (https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/38/committees) it seems it has to go through only 1 committee, the "House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations".

That committee has 9 Republicans and only 5 Democrats, so doesn't it seem likely to pass out of committee, if only for partisan reasons?
 
All of the bills I mentioned plus a few others will make it through the MN House, every key person has promised the MN Gun Owners Caucus that. We are working on the Senate.

Hopefully we can get the Governor to sign a few of the bills into law this year. We plan on pushing anything that gets vetoed this year again in 2020.
