It will be mom vs. mom at Patriots Square on Mother's Day.
Inside the park: local supporters of the Million Mom March, who hold the park
permit to rally for gun control.
Outside the park: the Second Amendment Sisters, who had planned to rally for
gun rights on the same turf but were warned off Wednesday.
Jan Binder, co-chairwoman of the Phoenix Million Moms rally, fears a possible
confrontation Sunday.
The group's event, at 2:30 p.m. in the park at Washington Street and Central
Avenue, is a companion to the national rally in Washington, D.C.
''Let's remember, this is America and everybody has a right to speak their mind,
but not in my space,'' Binder said.
Second Amendment member Carma Lewis said her group is being forced to the
sidewalk.
''We're probably going to surround the park now,'' she said.
The Second Amendment Sisters' plan to rally at 2 p.m. at the park enraged the
Phoenix Million Moms. The group threatened to have police remove the
counter-rally moms if necessary.
Phoenix police officers in plainclothes will be at the park to keep the peace
between the two groups.
Lewis said her members won't be carrying guns, as some people might fear. ''We
really want this to be peaceful, we're not rednecked extremists,'' she said.

We have a criminal jury system which is superior to any in the world;
and its efficiency is only marred by the difficulty of finding twelve men
every day who don't know anything and can't read.
