A number of people who purchased "M14" rifles or receivers made from "demilled" U.S. GI M14 receivers by Mike Kelly Specialties (MKS) of Grafton WV, are reporting that BATF is requiring "abandonment" (surrender) of the rifles/receivers as contraband. The BATF position seems to be that the receivers are still legally machineguns, since the M14 is a selective fire weapon. There may ultimately be a court case, but right now, owners of MKS rifles or receivers should be forewarned.
There is more discussion on the www.gunandknife.com M14/M1A forum, to which interested parties are referred.
