MKII recoil assembly

Helping a friend out I bought his MKII target. Breaking it down for cleaning I noticed that the sturip (fork? half moon?) at the end of the recoil spring assembly is out of shape and only one side rests against the bolt. Is this gonna cause problems? It's about $10 to replace, so no big deal but I'd like to shoot it in a few days and won't have the assembly by then. Thanks.

Yep, see if you can straighten it so that both of the "ears" lay flat on top of the rear of the bolt. If you can't then you will want to get a new spring guide because it's going to be beat to death if run that way. There may be a burr at the front on the rod that is making it the rod misalign with the rear of the bolt. The rod should be free to rotate in the small plate that sits in the groove at the front of the bolt. Look at that area. This is a common problem with MK IIs.

The plate at the front of the recoil spring assemble is fine and the rod does rotate in it. The...fork-stirup-U shaped thing at the other end is spread out, not letting both "feet" rest on the back of the bolt. I tried to straighten that piece, but it's to strong a metal with hand tools to let me do that without screwing up the spring and rod. Hopefully it will ship tomorrow, then I might have it for next weekend.
