MKII ammunition sensitivity to CCI Green Tag

Hello all.

Has anyone else had a problem with CCI Green Tag ammunition? It seems that my MKII is accurate with this ammunition, but will gunk up in a hurry. After shooting about 300 of these rounds, it is so dirty that the stuff that builds up in the chamber area is so bad that it cushions the round so that all you get when the firing pin falls is a click.

Other CCI ammo doesn't do this, nor does Eley or Federal.

What is your experience?

Thanks.

I haven't had any experience with CCI Green Tag, but I've definitely had problems with PMC. I bought some PMC .22 ammo at a show, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's filthy, and after 100 rounds, I have to clean my Mark ll.

Green Tag isn't the cleanest .22LR on the planet, but I've shot several hundred rounds in my 10/22 without signficant crud building up. I don't generally shoot it in my MK-II, since T-22 is as accurate in that, and much less money. :-)

May be it was not an ammo problem. May be your Ruger had
a bit too much oil on the inside of receiver when you
happened to shoot this ammo...

I highly recommend to shoot any semi-auto blowback
in "nearly dry condition", or, to apply dry film lubricants
instead of oil/grease. Helps a lot to prevent accumilation of junk...
