MK9 trigger wierdness

I just got an new MK9 Elite last week and am having trouble with it.

1. I fire a shot, the spent shell is ejected and a live round is chambered. So far so good. However, the trigger does not always engage for the next shot. That is, when the trigger is pulled there is no tension on it as though the gun is not cocked.

2. Same thing sometimes happens when I insert a loaded magazine, when the slide is locked open, and close the slide using the slide release. The first round is chambered but the trigger is not always cocked. As far as I can tell, the slide is seated as far forward as it can go.

In both cases I rack the slide, eject the chambered (live) round, and all is well.

This seems to happen randomly, but at least 1 or 2 times per magazine. There is no pattern to which round in the magazine has the problem. It happens with both the 6 round and 7 round mags that came with the gun.

Anyone else experience this??? I'm open to suggestions. I realize any new gun needs a break-in period. Before shooting it for the first time I stripped it down, cleaned it and lubricated it. I shot 100 rounds through it in the first session at the range. After that I cleaned it and lubed it again. Today I put another 250 rounds through the MK9. I've been using factory loaded ammo, both 115 grain and 124 grain.

Aside from the problem describe above the gun works flawlessly and is extremely accurate and easy to shoot.

Call Kahr and explain the problem. The # should be on the website. Whatever it is, it`s not break in problem and they`ll probably send a UPS pick up order to ship it back. If you don`t have the Elite trigger or nightsights, they may put them on for you.

I have one of the first MK9's with the thicker grip - bought in 1998. It works flawlessly. There is problem with your gun. Stop shooting it and contact Kahr.

I don't know if I totally understood the question, but the Kahr MK9 will only fire ONCE for each complete slide cycle.

For example. If you rack the slide and load up a cartridge and pull the trigger, you obviously expect the gun to fire. But, if you have a failure-to-fire (like a bad primer), the Kahr will NOT allow you to pull the trigger again.

You have to cycle the slide (rack the slide) and eject the bad cartridge and then let the slide chamber a fresh cartridge. Now the trigger and action will work again.

I have had a few bad primers while shooting my MK9 and the "misfire" drill comes into play here. Make sure that the gun is pointing in a safe direction and allow at least 30 seconds just to "make sure" that the primer will not fire. Then eject the bad round AWAY from you and don't look into the ejection port.

That is one reason why many shooters like the Single-Action/Double-Action guns like Beretta or SIG because you can simply cock the hammer again and re-strike the primer.
