MK9 m Seeking Mags and holsters

Got a Kahr MK9 and finally had a chance to shoot it today. VERY nice!

Looking for recommendations for holsters. I'm also interested in feedback from anyone who is using non-Kahr magazines (cheaper than Kahr). Are they reliable? What brand are you using? Just doing some price checks right now for future reference.

Thanks!

I have a bunch of Kahr factory mags but I can`t remember where I got them. Maybe CDNN. I have a couple of Pro Mags also and they`re ok for the range.

www.arizonagunrunners.com has Kahr factory mags for about $10 under list. That's the best I've seen so far (exception: got a new factory mag for $20 off Gunbroker.com - one time deal). As for Pro-Mags, I wouldn't trust them. :barf: I have several Pro-Mag Glock polymers (both 19 and 17). A couple are 100%, the rest have induced just about every type of jam you can think of (maybe this is Pro-Mags niche, you can use them to practice your malfunction clearance drills). Bottom-line: Buy factory mags.

Leather: Good value: Don Hume has several perfectly serviceable models. I bought a clip-on IWB. My best: an IWB holster similar to Milt Sparks summer special but made by a local holstermaker - Backwoods Custom Leather (paid $35 for it).

I have both MK9 and K9. I may venture into polymers before too much longer. I'd like to see a K357 ;)

I have a horsehide Watch Six from Milt Sparks that works beautifully with my Mk9. It's not cheap but worth every penny.

I have the Alessi Ankle holster for my MK9 as well as an Alessi RCMP Drivers X-draw in horsehide. Which holster you get depends on how you plan on carrying it.

I posted a thread a while ago about a 357 Sig barrel in the K 40
thus the K357. Bar Sto barrels will be making one or two in a couple of months....(in BarSto time this could be up to 6 months)
So as soon as I can get one...I will update TFL on the K357.......
I think if it will feed with the angled feedramp we could have quite a little gun....
Shoot well

Jeff...

If you have the Alessi Ankle Holster, you have the finest ankle holster money can buy. I have one for my J frame S&W revolvers and plan to get one for my Kahr MK9...one hell of an ankle rig. I can and have worn mine for 18 to 20 hours at a time with no discomfort whatsoever. I carry an all steel revolver and an Airweight revolver interchangeably with little or no noticeable difference in felt weight. I think the secret is the wool felt padding and the pull thru D ring to cinch it down snug so it doesn't shift or wobble. I also like the tight fitting molding of the leather to eliminate any need for a thumb snap. I can't say enough good about this holster. It is one of the best products of any kind I have ever owned.

Your local dealer should also be able to get Kahr mags about $10 off web list, if they want to help you out.
I'm going to my dealer tomorrow, to pick up one that she ordered for me.
I think my final cost will be around $27.
Still too expensive, but better than $35 or more, + shipping from Kahr.

They have some holsters for sale at www.Kahr.com Probably all available cheaper elsewhere. I do like the looks of the pocket holster on their website. However, I think someone on this board posted that it was too smooth and came out of you pocket when the gun was drawn so they sent it back. Congrats on the gun. I have the MK40 and really like it.

If you have the Alessi Ankle Holster, you have the finest ankle holster money can buy.

I had an Alessi for my G27 and it was great.

However the one I just got for my MK9 is quite uncomfortable. The inside top of the strap just behind the pistol digs into my leg severely. I can't figure out why the difference between the two holsters.

Thoughts?

Sundance, yes it is a great holster and for what it cost it ought to be, but worth every penny since it does work so well. dwestfall, have Lou make it like he did mine. He will claim I have ankles like a tree, not true, but I had him rotate the holster for me to a more vertical position. My calf muscle snuggles right down into the area on the back of the grip below the tang. I do wear the holster rotated back to more of a 4 o'clock or 4:30 position rather than 3 o'clock. Work with Lou, he will make it right.

Shame on me -- I waited until the week before I needed it to actually wear it. I have spent about 15 minutes tonight limbering the thing up -- twisting, bending etc and it's a bit more comfortable now since it conforms better to my leg. If I can't make it good enough I'll get back to Lou.
