MK40 K40 Covert, differences?

I have the opportunity to get either an MK40 or a K40 Covert, both are NIB and about the same price. It's my understanding that the K40 covert was made briefly before the MK40 was introduced. Is there really any difference between these guns? Any benefits one has over the other?

I have not thoroughly researched this...this is just off the top of my head...so somebody please correct me if I am wrong...The K-40 is a full length slide and full length frame...The MK-40 is a compact slide and compact frame...The K-40 covert is a combination of both...it is a K slide with a MK frame. The benefit of the covert over the MK is longer sight radius, slightly higher bullet velocities due to longer barrel, and possible greater reliability due to longer slide cycle length/time. The benefit of the MK over the Covert is greater concealability. The capacity of both is the same. The MK would be slightly lighter than the Covert. I have a K-9 Elite 98 and love it. I have been most impressed by every Kahr product I have shot or handled. I don't think you will go wrong with either.
 
The covert has a standard length slide/barrel combo. Standard
sight radius. MK is shorter both ways. With concealability usually
the grip is the problem point. Its the part of the gun that prints"
or shows through your clothes. Also the shorter grip makes it
easier and quicker to access and draw from a concealed carry location. The covert is a standard k40 with an mk grip/mag.

I suspected that the covert might have a slightly longer slide, but couldn't find any definite info.
I'll probably end up going with the MK40.

I saw the link to the MK40 on the Kahr web site, but overlooked the link to the covert not realizing that the K40 Covert was also called the KS4043.
 
yeah...Kahr's model numbers are confusing...I just had to keep clicking on links until I saw the picture of the one I wanted :)


I wish they sold the MK40 in black.
