MK40 and premature lock?

Took out my MK40 for the first time tonight. I was shooting Cor-Bon 135 and UMC 180s. I was using both my 5 and 6 round mag. I only got through 1 mag without a problem. All other 8 or 9 times the slide would lock open as if it was out of ammo.

I made sure to try it with my thumb no-where near the slide release.

I'm thinking getting some Wolff Extra Power springs and giving that a try, anyone else have any other suggestions?

Thanks

Hey, had the same problem with my mk40, only with the 6 rounder though. 5 rounder functons flawlessly, so I figure it's a mag thing. I sent it back to kahr a couple days ago. Great customer service by the way. Ask for dave. Had to shell out 35 bucks for shipping though. My sights were off when I got the gun too so they're going to fix that as well. Great little gun. They must have let go of a couple faulty mags. Let me know how it goes. p.s. don't forget to call kahr first to get a return authorization number before shipping. Try to single out one mag if it's a mag problem. Maybe then, you'll only have to ship the mag for a replacement. You don't have to worry about shipping fed ex priority overnight either since you're just shipping the mag. Hope this helps.

Is it just the Cor-Bon 135s that cause the problem?

I have found that if I have any issues with my Steyr M40, it's with those darn Cor-Bons (never had a FTF or jam, but I can't clear the gun of an unused bullet with Cor-Bons...they get stuck on the extractor).

I think I've decided that once I burn up the 20 Cor-Bon 135s I've got that I'm not buying them anymore.
