mk318 sost retired in favor of m855a1?

I don't understand the logic in this myself.

In Afganistan we are fighting scrubs with no body armor, few vehicles, no "panzers".. and we need a round that penetrates body armor and armored vehicles more reliably?

Am I missing something?

The mk318 is obviously superior in bringing the bad guy down a lot more reliably. Its copper shank penetrates soft tissue and barriers more reliably than older green tip ammo.

A test I witnessed with the NEW black tip m855a1, showed evidence of the round yawing as it went through a windshield. Sost rounds bore straight through.

Of course I am sure my ignorance will be revealed to me, but that is why I ask the questions.
