I Recently Purchased A Trooper Mk III E/ Nickel (colt Gaurd) Finish 6" Like New
And I Have Never Seen One Like This. It Has A Ventilated Ribbed
Barrel And A Lime Green Insert In The Front Sight. Has Anyone Ever Seen A Vented Barrel On A Mk III Trooper.I Also Picked Up Two New
(NIB) Trooper MK III's Both 8" Barrels One E/nickel And One Polished
Nickel. All Beautiful Guns, thanks For Any Feedback.

Are you sure the Trooper is a Mark III and not a Trooper Mark V.
The Trooper Mark V came standard with a vented rib barrel.

The green sight insert is a non-standard addition.
Either this is a gun an owner modified, or it was a Colt Custom Shop piece.

It Is For Sure A Mark III,and I Thought That Maybe It Went Through The Custom Shop. It Is Really A Sweet Gun And I Have Looked At As Many Trooper Mark III's As I Could Find On Line To Try To Find One Like It.I Purchased All Three Guns From A Dealer Who Bought Out A Collection. Is There Any Way That I Can Find Out For Sure If This Gun Went Thhrough The Custom Shop, Like From The Sierial # Or Somthing.

The only way is to contact Colt.
They MAY tell you over the phone.

If they won't, you'd have to buy a Colt Historical Letter, which will tell you everything Colt knows about the gun.

The problem: The letter costs around $100.00.

I have no way to prove this. There were some MKIIIs that were showing up with funky features about 6 months ago. Neon front sight inserts was a hallmark. The ones I saw were NOT factory assembled. The barrels were factory overruns and old stock clearanced through catalogues like the Sportsmans Guide. Somebody had done a nice job of putting together some parts and pieces. They were rough externally finished, neon inserts, most were 8" barrels and they usually had Millets RWO adjustable sights. Pachmayr gold Colt Presentation grips were on the ones I saw. The speculation was that a gunsmith school graduate had made them. Nobody knows and I can't prove it one way or the other. I passed up a 6" myself.

Thanks for your help,I should have mentioned that I have the brown paper box that this gun came in from colt. The gun is to perfect to have been put together with over run parts. The only difference between this box and the other two that I have, is there is no bar code on the box and the numbers are all written on with a marker and were it says finish it has a C and
vin# 796x5L model # j4362 I will try to find a way to put on a picture of my gun,I have not mastered the hole computer thing yet!!!!
