MK II or 22/45

Have shot the Ruger MK II and the 22/45.

Like them both.

Feel that the 22/45, while just as enjoyable as the MKII, has extra value in its similarity to my other semi's.

OK. The truth is I want one of these for my wife who tires easily with a 9mm. I want her to have a 22 so she can fun with me at the range.

She likes the MKII better. (End of story. I want her to have fun).

But I want her to have the 22/45 because it gives her more real world practice.

But she likes the MKII better. And she tells me to do what I think is best.

It's amazing how writing can be so self-reflective.

its your call! i would buy the mkII and keep her involved. i own one and it will certainly help you hone your skill level which will transfer to the larger caliber handguns.

Get her the one she likes. I have a MkII and I love it. If you want a nice one, get the model 512.

Get the one she wants. The finish, the barrel length, the whatever. Next time, you buy the gun you want. Trust me on this one :)

I would get her the MKII if that's what she wants. However, the 22/45 would keep her familliar with reloading procedures for most full sized pistols. I remember the day I brought my Glock home. Sarah looked at the bottom for the mag release because she was used to my Ruger 22.

Tough choice

I like the 22/45's ergonomics a lot more than the Mk II; however, I like the looks and heavy weight of the Mk II a lot better. I have the Mk II currently, but plan to get a 22/45 down the road. Solution: have your wife get the one she wants, and you get the one you want. Then you are both happy!

If buying both isn't an option, get her the one she wants. My wife and I had this go around a while back, and I ended up getting her a Browning Buckmark Micro in nickle finish. I wanted her to use my Hi Power simply because I felt a 9mm would be better for HD use if she'd need it. She didn't care for it, and would only fire a couple of rounds, then stand there and make me feel very self concious while I shot, and she watched. I tried to get her to use both my Mark II slabside (too heavy) and my .22/45 (icky black plastic). Finally, I just gave in and took her to the gun store and told her to pick out what she wanted. Now when we go to the range, I hand her a brick of shells and the staple gun to put up her home made targets, and put her on auto pilot. :)

How about a his and hers Ruger .22s?:D

Anyways, no matter what you decide on, you should go here and buy some stuff for it so you can like it even better: http://www.ontargetguns.com
