Mixing magazine parts

Hey friends!

Well I was hard at work today disassembling and cleaning my factory new Zastava M70A, working hard to remove the factory applied grease. This included stripping the pistol, and disassembling my 3 magazines for it. Everything was going well until I realized that I had mixed up the parts for the disassembled magazines, and as they were brand new it was impossible to tell them apart. I could have kicked myself.

So how much trouble am I in? Is it bad to mix up parts from different magazines? They were all the same Zastava make and model, identical to each other... but I'm not sure if this was the right thing to do.

What do you think?

I would expect that you should be able to assemble them in mix & match fashion with no problems at all.

That's pretty much how they were put together at the factory. Someone had huge bins of magazine parts in front of them and they grabbed parts from each bin & assembled the parts into a magazine.

Just be mindful that if you have failures to feed- it could be related to havig the springs put back in backwards. The most spring tension should be towards the front of the follower.

About 300 years ago, a guy named Eli Whitney was credited with the revolutionary concept of interchangeable parts for rifle manufacturing. You can rest assured that the same concept is applied to handgun magazines. Fuggetaboutit.

Uh oh... Now you've done it. Expect a kaboom within the first mag. Go ahead and sell it all to me for a "gunsmith's special" price.

Ha. You should be fine. :)
