Mixed serial numbers

Is it a problem if a handgun has different serial numbers on the frame, slide and barrel? Which one is the "real" serial number?

Frame number counts for legal identification.

Non matching numbers should be no problem except more numbers gives you more chances to match up with a stolen weapon. Probably easier to hit the lottery tho.

If it is a collector piece, then all matching numbers enhance the value.

Sam...sometimes I feel old enough to qualify as a collectable,

If you are talking about a Glock there is not too much to worry about. Many slide and barrel assemblies interchange with the different frames. Glock themselves sell extra slide and barrel assemblies particularly the longslides. I have a "Glock 24" which is actually a 3rd Gen G22 frame with G24 slide and barrel that works just fine. It's all stock Glock, just different numbers.

The number on the frame is the one that counts.
