Don't you hate that! It makes me want to compose all my stuff on notepad, wordpad and then paste it. Any way to retrieve these things?

tuc, I usually don't lose mine when I type in the wrong pass word. I get the message, "No, bad Gunslinger! Go back and try again." or something similar. I then simply hit the back button, type in the correct pass word and click submit again. What really whizzes me is when after I've typed out a long post and I get kicked right before I get it in. But that is always the fault of my ISP, not the TFL server.

I hit the back button and got empty fields. Go figure. As a rule such a disaster only happens when you've got a 500 word essay that took 20 or so minutes to type. It was real good too. All about the virtues of big knives as a alternate tool for self-defense in the Close Quarters Forum.

I know how you feel, you get all rolling along on the soapbox and then you hit the "submit button" and it all clears because you did'nt use the right password, and then you can't remember a damn thing you wrote.

Why don't you check the "REMEMBER PASS WORD" selection in PREFERENCES?

I just went to preferences to see if my password was saved and it was, but mine isn't ever saved I always have to type it in one time. But if I type it in the wrong way it never erases my post, you might try hitting the back button instead of post new topic.

tuc22 - It's always a good idea to keep a temporary copy of any medium to long posts you write on this BB or any other BB because there are a lot of things that can go wrong besides the password problem. Whenever I create a post longer than a line or two I simply highlight the entire contents and press Ctrl-C to keep a copy in the clipboard on a just-in-case basis.

Sorry about that; that is SOOO aggravating!

I usually compose on my notepad, then copy & paste to the forum. That way if my ISP acts up, I won't have lost anything except my temper! :)

With MY nimble fingers (groan!), I've learned to type most of my posts into Microsoft Works or Word. The spelling checker finds a lot of typos I've missed.

Then I copy and paste into the TFL reply window.

Then I go back and edit the danged thing! (sigh)

A tip to keep your ISP from cutting you off: If you have Outlook express, in the options make it check your email every 2-3 minutes, this way there is activity and the ISP won't cut ya off. :D MWHAHAHHAHA them ISP's can't mess with me!

I've had it happen, too. Once, I wrote what wouldv'e been a four page Word document, and I goofed on my password! AARG! Anyway, the remember password doesn't work for me because I post from several locales w/different e-mail addresses.

HERE'S THE TIP:
After you type out the Declaration of Independence II, drag your cursor over the entire thing, highlighting it, and hit ctrl+C that'll copy the message. If you have goofed your password, youcan just go back and after entering your correct password, hit ctrl+V which will paste the text again! You're welcome! :)

Since yoiu are most likely using IE4.0 or greater.

Goto: View - Internet Options - Temporary Internet Files_ Settings.

Under the check for new versions of stored pages, check either everytime I start IE, or Never. This will retain your comments when you hit the back button.

You will have to hit "Refresh," everytime you reload TFL pages to see if there are new topics/ replies.
