Misfire

I'm breaking in a new Benelli M1. I'm running into an interesting pattern.

1) I load a shell in the chamber
2) Fill the tube
3) Misfire
4) Eject Round manually
5) Feed round just ejected
6) Next round fires
7) Previous "dead" round goes bang

This happened to be about 5 times in 250 rounds

Any thoughts

Winston,

I experienced the same problem when I first got my M1S90.

In my particular case, the failure to fire was caused by me "babying" the bolt forward; i.e. I would hit the bolt release with my support hand, and instead of allowing the bolt to slam shut under spring pressure, I guided it forward with my firing hand. Sometimes when I did this, the bolt would not rotate fully into its final locked position. Then when I pulled the trigger....click. Simple solution, let the bolt slam forward by itself. Duh! Problem solved. Oh well, live and learn.

You might be on to something.

I'll have to pay particular attention to my gun handling,
but I believe I am not "babying" the bolt. There may be other factors I'm not aware of as yet. I'm going out to
the range tommorow and take another read.
