as reported in todays Houston Chronicle the minutemen are set to come to Houston. why you ask? houston is not on the border.

they are going to patrol the day labor centers and street corners where these criminals gather, supposedly to look for work. plans are to photograph and video these people and the American criminals who hire them, in protest of the H.P.D.'s "hands off" policy towards illegal immigrants.

while im not sure it will do any good, im all for it. name ONE arrestable offense that you or i could commit in broad day light and NOT be arrested.

these people gather by the dozens on the street corners, littering, urinating on the streets,etc...

what would happen if a group of black men were hanging around the street corner like that? quite likely they would be harrassed by the cops.

the illegals are breaking the law, ENFORCE it!

welcome to Texas minutemen. your needed here.

I just heard a sheriff from the border on talk radio he and a group of other
county sheriff (border counties)held a meeting in the past few days and requested congressman and officals from Homeland security attend, only one congressman showed up. The meeting was to address concerns about
the large numbers of illegals, especially OTM's being turned out on the
streets of our cities. Basically our government is unconcerned. This should
be a major concern to all citizens of this country because of terrorism,
crime, and cost to property owners. We spend money to protect other countries, we send money for food, health care, but darn we just can't
seem to focus on our problems. Let's get it right here and then and only then
worry about the rest of the world. :(

How? When secret back room deals are worked out in the White House between Bush and Fox. When mixed messages on the matter of illegal immigration from Bush are the norm rather than the exception. When our Boarder patrol agency has its budget slashed by the Bush Administration. When our boarder patrol agents are told to slow down apprehension and arrests because there arresting to many illegal aliens. All these things are happening for a reason. And the reason is Bush wants the illegals to come in by the tens of thousands to provide cheap labor for his major campaign contributors;who gave untold millions in soft money for Bush's reelection. Its called political payback;so get used to it. Because its going to continue as long as Bush is president. And the illegals are finding it extrealmy easy to get jobs and open bank accounts in "right to work" states like Virginia.

It's too late! Given the complexity of the problems, the people we have put in power, and the path our government has taken. Unfortunaltely at this point I firmly believe that we can only prepare for the inevitable. The idea of grass roots change on mass scale are only visions of grandure.

Not many will really understand the depth of the pain in my saying this, and I hate the fact that this is the reality, but reality it is.

I am not advocating violence, and I pray constantly that a peaceful return of power to the people can be accomplished. That our country can somehow return to the vision we had during it's inception, but it is best said by "hope for the best, and prepare for the worst".

Wonder when they'll be showing up? I'd like to invite a bunch of them out to dinner and let them have a go with my NFA goodies.

Their mere presence will drive the liberal douchebags up the wall, sounds good to me.

So many troubling things in one post. Let's see, apparently the Houston police are prejudiced against black men and not hispanics. That is a pretty big statement to make without justification. At least in Dallas and Denton, I don't black men standing with the hispanics anymore than whites standing with them at the locations where they can be picked up as day laborers.

Given that the Minutemen have strong convictions about working within the law, they are not going to be taking any action beyond documenting folks on corners and if you need folks from out of town to come in and do that, then the Houstonites have really shown their lack of concern to the point of not being bothered enough to do what the Minutemen are going to be doing. Or maybe, Houstonites don't really see things as that much of a problem.

It is offensive that it is assumed that just because a group of hispanics gather on a corner that they are illegal aliens or are performing illegal activities. I am not sure how the Minutemen are going to be able to determine which folks in the group are legal and which are not legal. It seems the operating assumption is that they are all illegal or are performing illegal activities. That is something completely contrary to our legal system.

If you want to stop the problem, then try stopping the folks that hire the day laborers. From what I see in Denton and Dallas, those people driving up to do the hiring are predominately white males and hispanic males, almost exclusively in pickup trucks (how is that for profiling?). Remember that it is the people doing the hiring, if of illegal aliens, that are themselves breaking the law by hiring undocumented workers and more than likely are not paying the appropriate taxes for those laborers. If they are hiring illegal workers and paying the appropriate taxes, that is an admission of guilt and documentation (or lack) of illegal actvity. Things like that spawn audits.

As near as I can tell, the job in Houston is fundamentally different than what is being done on the border. On the border, they are helping to preclude illegal entry or reporting to the authorities those people they see coming across the desert into the US.

its going to get very interesting. the pro illegal groups are promising to have 10 of thier people there for every one minutemen whos there observing.

i think its likely that there will be such an uproar about it that the actual "observing and videotaping" will never happen. the illegals will win again.
