I have been into rifles for as long as I can remember, and love shooting with a scope for accuracy/group size.
It's always been said that you want your scope as low as possible and still allow for a comfortable and natural cheek weld.
I have a Savage 93 .17HMR that I bought for my wife who is a bit on the small side. I got a Cabelas brand scope that I mounted using Redfield medium rings and the clearance between the objective bell and barrel is about the thickness of 4-5 pieces of notebook paper. Being smal, this position allows her a comfortable /natural cheek weld. I've never been able to have a comfortable cheek weld with any of my scopes mounted this low, so I've never really worried about a scope being this close to the barrel.
Is there a minimum spacing requirement between barrel and scope?
With it this close, will barrel vibration affect the scope any?
As always, thanks for the help and guidance!
P.S.
