Mini-14 PMI Mags 20, 30 or 40 rounders???

It seems that the PMI mags for the mini-14 are available in 20, 30 and 40 rounders, but there appears to be more 40 rounders available than 30 and 20 rounders put together.

I have only used 30 rounders and I know they work flawlessly. What is the deal with the 40 rounders that make them more available? Are they not as reliable or just not desirable?

Thanks for any info.
Jim

all aftermarket mags suck for the mini 14.step up to the plate and buy some real factory mags for your mini and dont sacrifice reliability.

Unlike almost all of the non-factory competition the 20 round PMIs are excellent, their 30 rounders are very, very good, but their 40 rounders are just too big to be reliable. I'd own 40 round PMIs as plinkers, but I stick with their 20 and 30 rounders for serious work.

i have 20 and 30 round pmi mags for $45 in stock.of course for $85 dollars you can get a mag that actually works.:):):)

I've got a few 20 round PMI mags and they all work great. That's all the mag I need. I've got to think that most manufacturer's 40 rounders would be unreliable...

Whats the point after awhile. Its such a small rifle and a 40rd looks a little weird. I saw a picture of Osama Bin Laden with 40rd mags in an AK and It made the gun look like a giant nose hair was coming out of it! I think the 20rd mags in a Mini make them look cool.

I would say that their are more 40's available because knowone buys them. I have many PMI 20's and 30's, they have NEVER failed. I bought them back when they were $15 a piece. They have seem several thousand rounds and function flawlessly. I would probably trade them 2 for 1 on a Ruger mag but not more than that. Buy the PMI's while they are available. The sea is dry'n up!

I have heard from several folks that the 40 rounders would not feed the last four or five rounds. I bought three 25 round mags at a gun show in Dallas back in 86 or so and have never seen any since. BTW I paid $5 each for them and they have been flawless.
