Mini-14 owners please respond

Hi,
I have a brand new stainless ranch mini-14. About half-way up the barrel there is a thin ring. It's a tool mark that looks shiny compared to the matte finish on the rest of the barrel.

Is this normal?

Yes,its on all the Mini's.Seems like they could have buffed it out or something.

Any way to get rid of the "ring"?

Mine as well as all minis have it. There is no good way to get rid of it unless you want to grind and polish out the entire barrel, effectively thinning an already too thin barrel.
