Mini-14 magazines

Heaven knows this topic has been addressed before and i apologize for asking again. But the search feature has been disabled.

Anyway, what has been your experience with the best, okay, and worst aftermarket full-cap mags for the Mini-14?

Thanks!

No need to search! The Answer is Precision Magazines are the best. But the Company is out of business and mags go for $35 or more. USA Magazines are HORRIBLE. I have 8 Precision magazines and 4 USA. All 4 USA magazines are in the junk pile in my closet. My USA mags are Stainless steel and I'm praying that someday I'll find followers for them and some how be able to use them. This is a topic that is asked every 2 weeks but I don't think anyone is going to argue with my response. WeAreGuns.com and ClipsnStuff.com still have Precision mags. If Bush gets the Whitehouse Us Mini-14 owners might someday see good High Cap mags for resonable prices, in a few years.

Concur. Ruger never made their own high-cap magazines and subcontracts out the production. I did a side by side comparison between a Ruger factory hi-cap and a Precision Mag and apart from the floorplate, could not discern the difference.

Being a Mini-14 owner I am very anxious about a Bush Presidency. I read in I think the Political forum about something Bob Barr said about seeing the Sunset of the High cap ban in a couple years. I'd like to try and Buy up the machinery that Precision Mags had and Start up my own company if thats true.

This is odd, but I have found that those funny dual use "ram-line" 30rnd mags work great in my Mini. No jams at all and they seat positively.

The best high mags by far are of course ruger factory ones. If you have a friend in law enforcement, they can get them dirt cheap for you.

As for Bush getting rid of the high cap ban, I seem to Remember it was a Bush in office when this whole nonsense started. Still wish I would have held my nose and worked harder for him though.

From My understanding when the Ban expires in I think 2yrs its up to the Attorney General to decide if it had any effect on crime. I am very confident Bush would pick an Attorney General that would just let it expire.

All you'd need is the dies and fixtures commonly referred to as 'tooling'. It's not necessarily the tooling, but the quality control that makes their products good. It also takes a good bit of experience and some serious trial-and-error. IF the law sunsets, many people are of the opinion a new law will be passed WITHOUT a grandfather clause. Beware anybody who wants to 'change' the laws now. All it takes is a 'rider' to any bill and the sunset is gone. Bush has already said he'd reauthorize it:

Thanks!

The "Assault Weapons Ban" will sunset in September of 2004 unless it is reenacted by Congress.

Can you imagine if...

The hi-cap ban was lifted and those "10-round" magazines became clamoured for collectors' item? Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Hey, they're good for training purposes like reloading drills or malfunction clearance drills.
