mini-14 magazines

I am new to the forum, hoping I'm not covering old topics, but the mini14 reliability ? is ALL in the magazine
in my experience. After discovering the RUGER mag worked flawlessly, I found that the "hole" in the front of the mag for the "lug" is undersized in aftermarket mags of 2 different makers. Also the "insert and pull back to lock motion" of the mag change takes some getting used to compared to the m16 slam it in motion, but is VERY natural
once accustomed to. I am afraid that if we all do not vote, you will see ar15 type rifles confiscated, where the mini14 may
be o.k. until the second round of confiscation.(it doesn't have "the look")
and that is a plus in my book.

I bought a mini 14 about a month and it seems that in western magazines the 30s work the best. All of the 20s I had problems with. For about ten dollars a mag the 30s are a pretty good value.

I'd have to concur, the 30rd. magz work best, I've had trouble with one 30, a stainless steel one because the spring tension is too tight. If you fully load it with 30 rds. the bolt doesn't have the umph to chamber a round. I have several 30's all except the stainless one work well, haven't tried the 20's and the one 40 I tried wouldn't even fit in the receiver? Mini-14 has gone through 700rds. so far and no problems except those mentioned above.

i have some used factory mini 14 mags in 2o round configuration in great shape.email me if you are interested.

I have been testing Ram-Line opaque plastic magazines for a while.

They seat firmer and easier and give me no jams. The only jams I get are from those Congress-level useless USA mags.
