Mini 14 front sight, how do I remove?

George, I want to replace the front sight on my mini. After drifting out the pin, I still can't budge it. Were these a tight pressed on fit? How can I get it off? TIA
 
Tap it lightly with a wood mallet or plastic tipped hammer. There's no real trick to it. Could be a burr or something making it catch. -- Kernel
 
The ONE I removed was really stubburn. Put a drop of Break-Free on the front and back of it and through the pin hole and let then darn thing sit overnight. This should help it along some. I used a brass rod and some really stern swings with a hammer to budge it. My advice, don't take it off if it ain't broken.
