I recently bought an Escort 12 Gauge shotgun, which shoots 6 shots (5 loaded and 1 in the chamber). At my local shop, I was told about a new mini 12 gauge ammo, that'll allow you to load 10 shells in your shotgun, while still giving you the full power of a 12 gauge. Has anyone heard of this ammo?

I think Aguila makes such a product.
Seems like I remember they were aiming the product at cowboy action shooters and self defense applications.
I could see how there would be issues with automatics and this stuff.
As I recall, the specs were lower but not that much lower.

I believe it is the Aguila that you are being told of. I have tried some and had mixed results. I tested rounds in the following pump shotguns:
Mossberg 590 and 500
Remington 870
Winchester 1300
The only one that would feed the rounds with some reliability was the Win 1300. I still had a number of feeding issues with it, but it was great compared to the other 3 shotguns. It was a nightmare trying to get a reliable function with the mini rounds.This is just my experience not a scientific statement on the ammo. You could have better results. The shells were quite sheap when I bought them, so you have little to use by trying. I do remember a disclaimer on the box saying "not for use in semi-automatic weapons".

I tried some in my new Benelli Nova slug-gun (pump). They felt like squib loads, but if they would eject better, (that was the problem area for me), they could be a high capacity in-home solution for some of you. They just "dribbled" out - about one in four needing digital assistants, (pun intended), to leave the gun.
The Nova really tossed regular shells over next door.
The mods, if cheap and fast, would be worth it. Think "spousal unit" here, if reliability could be brought up to par. You may not always be in town.
They were, BTW, Aguila, a mix of #4 and #1 buck in each shell, and could be looked at favorably for low penetration of structure, (and neighbor's structures, compared to, e.g., full house slugs).

About the price thing, though, Sellier & Belliot offer a very affordable 2-3/4" 00 Buck ten pak, that I think are fabuloso!
My rifle sight barrel made an IDPA A-zone sized group at 10 yds, perfect for home defense. I would like to reach out farther & tighter for other applications, so I guess I will be looking for a short tight one, perhaps with interchangable choke tubes!
