Million Mom National Agenda

The good news is that their number one stated goal is registration/licensing for gun owners, and the majority of ho-hum, fence-sitting (on "gun control") gun owners are AGAINST registration/licensing. Even gun-owning people who have been suckered into believing "gun safety" laws are not an infringement usually balk at the idea of being in a national database of gun owners.

The most foolish mistake we could make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms; history shows that all conquerers who have allowed their subjected people to carry arms have prepared their own fall.

What the hell can't they understand about history, and governments efforts to make society a safer place???

Best Regards,
Don

What do we do about well-meaning people who have somehow got hold of the wrong end of the stick?

I have to respect the Million Moms' desire to do SOMETHING about violence, even though I don't think they're on the right track about WHAT to do. These are not malicious people who want to disarm America so the "New World Order" can create a totalitarian state, they're concerned women who are unfortunately misinformed and misguided on the issue. They're talking about treating the symptoms instead of the causes. They should be focusing on economic disenfranchisement, shoddy parenting, and other factors that cause crime. They should be supporting gun safety education that can lessen accidents.

They want uniform national laws on guns? If they use Florida, Texas or Arizona as their model I might get into that. Just think of the benefits of a 50-state CCW permit. No more worrying about going on a road trip and having to forego your defensive options in certain jurisdictions.

A standardized 50-state CCW license would show any dealer that you're legit, so you could take advantage of the great deal you spotted at that out-of-state gun show and not have to worry about waiting periods or background checks. If they see the card, they can sell it to you, no need to make a record of who bought what.
