Milling the slide on an XDM 5.25 in 9mm

Ok I recently added the XDM 5.25 to my collection to replace my XD9 Service Model as my 3Gun pistol. I bought the Springer Precision Mount that replaces my rear sight to mount my MRDS to, And a Powder River ultimate match trigger kit. Well I had a bad experience with the mount on my other XD coming off mid stage in a 3gun match. I was contemplating milling the rear of the slide down and drilling/tapping it to direct attach my MRDS to the slide. I was curious how deep a guy can cut the slide down before i start getting into important stuffs in the slide?

You'll also need to reengineer the loaded chamber indicator and striker retainer which will both be in the way.
