Militec-1 Excellent

Well, dunno why you landed here and signed up to make that statement (though it is a good freebie). But I'll vouch for the stuff, it is great! A couple of my pistols have matt finish, & anything that I put on them looks like heck within the hour. Militec makes'em look real nice, for a long time. It is also a very good lubricant & the best known protectant, the military uses it for a reason.

Now, once you use up your sample, you want to buy in quantity:

By the 1 oz bottle: $7.90/oz.

By the 4 oz bottle: $4.73/oz.

By the 8 oz bottle: $3.36/oz.

By the 32 oz bottle: $2.49/oz.

And if you REALLY wanna save some bucks, get the 55 GALLON DRUM! (Hmm, can't find it on the site, but seems like it comes out to well under $1/oz :)

Hi DOC7843-

You're apparently very excited by your new employment at Militec to be SHOUTING IN ALL CAPS about their fine product. Like fastforty above, I've used this lubricant/conditioner for many years with excellent results. This is the product I use on a cotton patch when finishing a detailed firearms cleaning session.

One other thing, please ask your bosses to hire a web designer to create a nicer and easier-to-navigate Militec page for Internet customers. Cheers!

Nothing beats Breakfree CLP. If someone did, the army would've been using that product instead of Breakfree CLP!

Hi Gudel-

Breakfree CLP (as in clean, lubricate, protect) is also an outstanding product. Once my time at the range is completed, I make a single pass with a patch soaked in CLP to help preserve my guns during the long drive home.

Following a disassembly and careful, detailed cleaning with Hoppe's solvent, the firearms are lubricated, assembled, function-checked, and receive a final wipedown with Militec-1. I'm kind of hyper about thorough firearms cleaning performed as quickly as possible after use.

Tried the oil. It doesn't seem to resist rust very well unlike Breakfree or the militec grease. Being in the tropics, I found the grease better. ;)

I read a test on one of the forums (AR-15.com?) and they concluded that Militec isn't a very good rust preventative. Be that as it may, I've used it as a lube and it works pretty good.

Actually, these days, just about all the lubes & greases work pretty good, depending on their application. I recently talked to a couple of kids from my old MP unit who were in Iraq, and they said they found Break Free turned into like a varnish in weapons that were fired A LOT on full auto, but for most uses worked fine. Break Free is only a field expedient substatute for a real solvent to clean with, but I've always had good luck with it for lubrication.

Iraq maintenance.

While deployed our battalion Small Arms Repair Det. made sure that each company arms room was kept stocked with mil-tec in the small bottles to hand out and in the big bottles for large/multiple weapon cleaning.
It was VERY effective in the harsh environment and now (thanks to a hook-up from the arms room who gets me LOTS of free samples :D ) resides on all of my civilian firearms.

2 bottles in cleaning trunk
1 in range bag
1 in truck console
1 in "ready bag" for deployments
and 2 stashed with MRE's, water purification tabs, etc. in closet.

Lots of great used around the house too. Tools, wife's sewing machine, auto, etc.

Really good stuff.
