What is the best IWB holster for a 4" K frame. I have a 66 and a 19 that I carry from time to time. The only holster I have is very uncomfortable and not too secure. What's the best bet for a new one?

I am asking the guru of Model 19's but anyone else who has a good recommenation, climb aboard.

Thanks.

Jay

That's about as tough a question as which is the best handgun. How a holster fits is so dependent on how you are built, where you carry it and every other possible factor.

Some real general guidelines
  • A holster cannot be better than the belt worn with it
  • If you plan on wearing IWB, buy some pants and a belt about a size too large.
  • A holster should have a flap between the gun and your body.
  • A holster specifically fitted to your make or model will usually be more comfortable than one made to fit a broader range.

In OWB holsters, I find a high ride more comfortable when I will be getting in and out or driving long distances in a car, but a low ride more comfortable otherwise. You might want to look at the Galco Phoenix (lowride) and the FLETCH or SpeedMaster (HighRide).

Oh geez, Jay...

I'm sorry, but I HATE IWB holsters! I don't think I have a single one anymore, except perhaps an Uncle Mike's or two, which are old and haven't been used in quite awhile.

When I carry my Model 19 2.5", it's either in a belt slide or most frequently in a shoulder holster.

When I carry my 4" Model 19, which is VERY rare anymore, it's always a shoulder holster.

While I appreciate the faith you've placed in my knowledge, this one is out of my league...

Sorry. :(

My 19s like to ride in belt slides, high and tight at 4 o'clock, 8 o'clock (or both.) The short ones also live in assorted pocket holsters.

I don't do IWB either.

Horrible thought.
Mexican carry. N frame with 6" barrel and patridge front sight.
Draw fast and sing tenor. ?

C.R.Sam,

Look at the bright side, after that experience No One will say that their is any Bull in you. :D

Please explain how in the heck you sit down with that kind of rig?

Well, my roommate uses the Bianchi #3S "Pistol Pocket" IWB holster for his 4" 19 and 2.5" 686...
