MidwayUSA discount for Federal C&R license holders?

I read somewhere in one of these forums that if you have a C&R license that MidwayUSA and a few other places will treat you like a dealer and give you some perks or discounts. Anyone here have a C&R license taking advantage of that? If so, how do you go about signing up for that....and what kind of discounts are we talking about?

Discount is lame for C&R license holder on Midway. Haven't seen much discount for the stuff I get from them. Only .50 savings on some stuff (not at all on majority).

I have better luck with Grafs when it comes to dealer discount with C&R license. Every item is discounted with Grafs.

Yes Midway does a C&R discount. Apply for your C&R, and when approved fax or email a copy to Midway and they handle it from there.

There is no set number or percentage as far as the discount goes. You'll save a dollar or two on boxes of rifle projectiles, and you may save $60-$75 on an Eberlestock backpack (just for example ;)).

Between the Brownells discount and the Midway discount, I saved about $150 on the last AR I built a couple of years back.

*** And I forgot to mention but after you receive your "dealer" status with Midway they require a $40 minimum order or else there is a fee.

I've had my C&R for probably a decade. It was only recently that someone had mentioned that Midway and others probably have a discount. Sounds like I cheated myself out of a few dollars. :o

So how do you know if/when Midway gives you the discount?

I faxed my C&R FFL to them months ago with my Midway account # on the same piece of paper, and some other information, and I never heard anything back... You'd think they would note it somewhere, email you (since it's tied to the account), etc.

Just sign into your Midway account, and if you look at the price of an item, it should say "Dealer Price." Midway doesn't show you the original price of the item. To get that, you have to sign out and find the item again. OR add everything to your cart while you are signed out, then sign in and "Update" the cart to see how much you save total. I love Midway, but Brownell's dealer system is set up better, with generally better discounts.

Does Cabelas offer dealer pricing for C&R and if so....

Do you still receive all the occasional discount coupons or qualify for the coupons they send out when you get dealer status? i.e. $30 off a purchase of $150 or more....etc....

C&R Discounts

Know I'm resurrecting a bit of a zombie thread here, but have updated information which I think may be helpful to some folks, as old dead threads like these found via google search were part of my motivation to obtain a C&R license, partially to yes collect C&R type firearms, but also in large part in order to obtain the dealer discounts. Anyways, my recent experience and thoughts.....

Got my C&R in the mail this past Saturday. Later the same day emailed signed copies of it to Midway, Brownells, and Grafs. All accepted them by email and got me immediately hooked up with the dealer pricing, and here's what I found out about each (which by the way are presented in the same order in which I received the discount from the retailer)......

1. MidwayUSA - I already had about 30 items in my "wish list" prior to getting the discount. Looking through them all and comparing them to the non-discounted prices, the discount is usually around $0.50 to $3 depending on the item. Prior to obtaining the dealer discount, I had been using the often posted coupons at slickguns.com that often provides $10 off 50, $15 off 100, and $20 off 200. I discovered that under dealer pricing, you can no longer use these coupon codes. Randomly picking some items in my wish list, in order to get $10 off, I'd likely have to put over $100 worth of merchandise in my cart. In this case, on most "small orders" of say less than $200, it makes more sense to buy at consumer prices and get the coupon discount. I could see the discount becoming more pertinent if really ordering in dealer type quantities/amounts, but again, unless you're ordering several hundred dollars or more of stuff at a time, I think it makes more financial sense to use regular pricing, in line with more of a consumer type use. Seems like their discounting practices truly is to reward buyers of dealer type volume. Oh, also there's a $4 fee for orders less than $40 as opposed to I believe a $3 consumer charge for orders less than a certain amount, again if your orders tend to be on the smaller size, it benefits to not be under dealer rules.

2. Grafs - Per the email I received, "dealer minimum order is $100, a small order fee for orders less than $100 is now $5." Also, "to maintain dealer pricing you must purchase a minimum of $2,000 annually. So again, for most average consumers, placing smaller orders, they're discount seems aimed at true dealers.

3. Brownells - Also had several items in my wish list, which after re-examining once the dealer prices went into effect, I noticed average discounts of between several dollars up to 15-20 dollars depending on the item. As Brownells infrequently has coupon codes, I found this to be an excellent discount for a more average to slightly above average consumer perchaser like myself.

Conclusion - When obtaining a C&R for online ordering discount dealer prices, consider your purchasing habits/typical volume/prices, and if you're like me, a fairly average to slightly above average firearm product consumer, definitely get the Brownells discount, but stick to MidwayUSA's coupons, and +/- on bothering with Grafs.

Nothing against any of these companies, I just think that they're doing what they mean to do, offer discounts to large volume orders, and not necessarily looking to give that much of a discount to an average Joe that get's his C&R, as seems to be the promise on this and other forum posts like it.
